Egypt's tourism leaders want more mention in the constitution
Egypt’s travel leaders have called for tourism to be included in Article 17 of the country’s recently approved constitution.
Minister of Tourism Hisham Zazou requested members of the Freedom and Justice Party, the liberal Wafd Party, the liberal Free Egyptian Party and the moderate Islamic Party, consider amending the Article to ensure the protection and sustainability of tourism, Ahram Online reported.
Currently the article reads, “Industry is an essential asset of the national economy. The state shall protect strategic industries, support industrial development, and import new technologies and their applications”.
Minister Zazou said all political parties present were in support of the tourism sector and dialogue also included amending other articles dealing with ownership and investment.
