Ahlys Fathi and Shawki injured in Champions League training session
Ahly midfielder Ahmed Fathi has suffered a minor knee injury that sidelined him during Thursday's training sessions for Sunday's CAF Champions League match with TP Mazembe of Congo, Ahly's Dr Khalid Mohamed announced on the club's official website.
"Fathi could be available for Friday's trainings and he will be fit for Mazembe clash," the club doctor added.
The Cairo Giants' midfielder Mohamed Shawki also left Thursday's practice session due to muscle problems. "Shawki will undergo medical tests on Friday to determine the seriousness of his injury," Mohamed concluded.
Sunday's CAF group stage match is expected to be played behind closed doors due to security reasons.
Ahly, the six-time African Champions League winners, have been drawn up in Group B with archrivals Zamalek and Ghana’s Chelsea.
