Ahly's Barakat sidelined from trainting due to injury
Ahly midfielder Mohamed Barakat was sidelined from Saturday's training session after sustaining a muscle injury.
"Barakat will likely return to training on Monday," read a statement on the club's official website.
The Cairo giants are bracing for a scheduled match with DR Congo’s TP Mazembe on 8 July. The game will be played behind closed doors due to security reasons.
Early Saturday, Ahly defender Wael Gomaa said he was unlikely to play in the upcoming CAF Champions League group stage clash with TP Mazembe, as he was still undergoing treatment for a calf injury sustained at the team’s training camp in Turkey.
New Ahly signing Oussou Konan, meanwhile, expressed his pleasure about training in the Red's home stadium.
"I promise to do my best to meet the fans' expectations," Konan was quoted as saying on Ahly's official website.
"I need the fans support; I have more to bring to the team," he added.
The Red Devils are set to play a friendly against Maqassa on Monday within the context of preparations for the upcoming African clash.
The six-time title winners have been drawn up in Group B with archrivals Zamalek and Ghana’s Chelsea.
