Morsi will take oath before Constitutional court: Egypt Brotherhood
Sobhi Saleh, Muslim Brotherhood leading figure and MP in the now-dissolved parliament claimed on Monday that newly elected President Mohamed Mursi will take the oath before the High Constitutional Court (HCC).
Saleh stressed that in accepting to be sworn in before the HCC, as specified by the military council's constitutional addendum issued on the day that voting in the presidential runoffs ended, Mursi is not accepting the dissolution of parliament.
Parliament was dissolved on the basis of an HCC ruling issued on the same as the constitutional addendum issued, ruling that the Parliamentary elections law was unconstitutional.
Revolutionary forces have urged the Islamist president not to be sworn in before the HCC. They argue that this would grant letimacy to the constitutional addendum, that strips the president of significant powers, and reserving them to the military council.
Article 30 of the addendum states that if parliament is dissolved, the president will be vowed into office in front of the general assembly of the HCC.
On Sunday Freedom and Justice Party's member Saad El-Husseini had stated the opposite, saying that Mursi would take the oath before parliament.
