Egypt’s Ahly lose Espanyol’s friendly in Barcelona
A 28th minute goal from penalty post by striker Walter Pandiani gives Espanyol an early lead over Ahly in the two sides’ friendly in Spain on Saturday.
Espanyol forward Romario doubled the score ten minutes before the end of the game.
The Spanish outfit dominated Ahly throughout the match as they found the net three times but those goals have been denied by the referee because of the offside rule.
Ahly players did their best to find their foe’s net but their efforts have been denied by Espanyol defense.
The Red Devils attacking midfielder Abdullah El-Saied strikes five minute before the break but Espanyol goalkeeper denied it.
In the second half, Ahly’s coach Manuel Jose decided to make use of his attacking players to score a consolation goal but the players didn’t meet his expectations, as the game finished with a 2-0 win for the Spanish La Liga outfit.
Ahly goalkeeper Sherif Ekrami gained the Fair Play award after the game due to his superb performance in the friendly.
Espanyol finished the 2011-2012 La Liga season in the 14th place, while Ahly didn’t complete the season as all football activities in Egypt have been canceled due to Port Said massacre.
