Shennawy to undergo medical with Real Betis

Egyptian goalkeeper Ahmed El-Shennawy said on Thursday he will be medically examined by Real Betis on Saturday after the Liga side completed their negotiations with Masry's president concerning a possible move. "Real Betis discussed the details with Masry's president Kamel Abou Aly and we will wait for the test results to sign the contracts,'' El-Shennawy told Ahram Online. “It will be a medical test,” he insisted, “not a football one.”

El-Shennawy, who stood out with the under 20 Egypt team in the last world Cup is one of the hottest talents in Egypt; he was even shortlisted for 2011 CAF African young player of the year's award. The 21-year-old goalkeeper played with the Pharaohs against Brazil in a friendly game and he was named man of the match despite losing 2-0.

El-Shennawy is forced to leave the club after it was suspended for a year and relegated to the second division following the Port Said Stadium disaster which left more than 70 killed.
