President-elect Barack Obama is proving to be an audience draw even after the election Indeed, Obama's first post-election TV interview, with "60 Minutes" correspondent Steve Kroft on Sunday night, averaged 24.5 million viewers and landed the CBS show in the top spot for the week. It was the most-watched "60 Minutes" since Jan. 17, 1999, when the network averaged 25.8 million viewers with an ordinary show that just happened to follow the Jets-Broncos NFL playoff game.
The big audience shouldn't be a surprise. Viewers' interest in everything related to the election was higher than previous years, including NBC's "Saturday Night Live," which generated its best numbers in 14 years.
