Palestinian reconciliation agreement on July 28Egypt has again set a new date for signing a Palestinian reconciliation agreement. This came after Fatah and Hamas agreed to postpone the seventh round of dialogue
 
An Egyptian official source said the secretaries-general of the different Palestinian organizations would sign a Palestinian reconciliation agreement in Cairo on July 28, immediately after the next three-day round of talks, which will begin on July 25. Politicians linked such a step to US President Barack Obama's plan on peace in the Middle East

Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas on Wednesday expressed regret that his secular Fatah party and its Islamist Hamas rivals were unable to reach an Egypt-brokered unity agreement

"The president expresses his regret over not achieving an agreement to to end the divide and restore unity in the sixth round of talks," the Western-backed Abbas's office said in a statement.

Hamas Islamists and the rival Fatah movement of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas have been given three more weeks to seek a reconciliation deal after it became clear they would miss a July 7 deadline set by Egypt

Palestinian officials said on Tuesday that Cairo had now given the factions until July 28 to agree to resolve their political divisions and end bickering marked by clashes and security crackdowns in Gaza and the West Bank.
