The Egyptian stock exchange announced Tuesday that Egypt's Torah Cement
(TC) reported an 8.6 percent rise in net profit to 178.3 million Egyptian
pounds in the first six months of 2009
The firm had made a net profit of 164.3 million in the same period of 2008, according to the stock exchange.
No further details were given.

The British gas firm BG Group in Egypt has started pumping gas from its
Sequoia subsea development, part of its offshore Nile Delta
gas-producing area, 90 kilometers from the Mediterranean coast,
according to a report by the firm
The six new subsea wells shall contribute to the Egypt's long-term
domestic and export energy requirements, Tim Blackford, the group's
head said in a statement Sunday.

Egypt’s urban inflation rate was unexpectedly steady in July after
declining for the previous seven months, easing pressure on the central
bank to keep cutting interest rates
Urban inflation, the benchmark rate that the central bank monitors,
stayed at a 19-month low of 9.9 percent, the Cairo- based Central
Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics said today on its Web
site. The nationwide inflation rate fell to 9.7 percent from 9.8
percent in June.
