Asian stocks have risen following the election of Democrat Senator Barack Obama as the next US president
Japan's Nikkei 225 index closed 4.4% up, Hong Kong's Hang Seng rose 5.7% and Singapore's benchmark index rose 4.1%.
The climbs came after the US Dow Jones index had risen 3.3% on hopes a new leadership would help the US economy as it faces the threat of a recession.

Egypt's EFG-Hermes HRHO.CA said on Tuesday it was planning a "special situations fund" worth some $500 million to take advantage of low equities prices amid the global financial turmoil
Hazem Shawki, a managing partner, also told Reuters Middle East Investment Summit that the investment bank would revisit merger plans with Lebanon's Bank Audi once markets stabilize and planned to expand in North Africa.

Regional mobile phone operator Orascom Telecom ORTE.CA rose 5.65 percent on Monday on plans to buy back shares, helping lift main Egyptian stock indexes for the second straight session
Shares in the biggest Arab mobile phone operator by subscribers last traded at 36.11 Egyptian pounds ($6.48) after it said it was planning to buy back 23.59 million shares between Nov. 2 and Jan. 30.

The Egyptian stock exchange reported Monday that Orascom Telecom ORTE.CA, the biggest Arab mobile phone operator by the number of subscribers, plans to buy back 23.59 million shares
The number of shares sought by the firm represents some 2.3 percent of total shares according to Reuters data.
