Egypt is to host a national conference in October so as to sign a Palestinian reconciliation agreement, Khaled Meshaal, Damascus-based Hamas politburo chief, told a press conference in Cairo on Monday evening

Meshaal called for unifying the Palestinian position and reaching reconciliation as soon as possible through backing the Egyptian efforts.

"We extend our hands to our brothers in Fatah movement and the rest of Palestinian factions to counter the Israeli enemy," said Meshaal.

Meanwhile, he warned of normalization options proposed by the United States on the Arab countries.
Meshaal described his meeting with Egypt's intelligence chief Omer Suleiman as constructive.

Regarding the Egyptian proposal, Meshaal said that Hamas reacted positively with the Egyptian proposal for restoring internal Palestinian unity

Meshaal held talks with Egypt's intelligence chief Omer Suleiman on Sunday in an effort to bridge the gaps between Fatah and Hamas.

Egypt has been sponsoring the Palestinian dialogues, mainly the dialogue between Fatah and Hamas movements. Several rounds of dialogues had already been held in Cairo since March, but there has been no breakthrough due to differences on substantial issues related to security, the unity government and the elections.
