Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit held a meeting with Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas in New York on September 22nd, 2009
The
meeting came within the framework of the Egyptian-Palestinian
continuous consultations to discuss efforts exerted to activate the
political process between the Palestinians and Israelis, stated the
Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry.
The Spokesman added that the consultation paves the path for the participation of the Palestinian President at the trilateral summit which the American President Obama called for, with both Abu Mazen and Netanyahu in order to discuss the current situation, and to get acquainted with the sides' stances.
Aboul Gheit also participated at the meeting hosted by President Abbas, at his residence. The meeting included Jordanian and Emirati Foreign Ministers, in addition to the Arab League Secretary-General in order to exchange points of view regarding the above mentioned issue, added the Spokesman.
