Somalia president sacks his PM

Abdullahi Yusuf AhmedThe Somali President, Abdullahi Yusuf Ahmed, has sacked Prime Minister Nur Hassan Hussein and the government

At a news conference in Baidoa, the president said the prime minister had failed to bring security to Somalia, and that he was acting "to save the country".
Mr Ahmed said a new prime minister would be appointed within three days.

However Mr Hussein told AFP news agency that the president alone did not have the power to remove him from office.
