About Egypt National Democratic Party

Egyptian National Democratic Party (NDP) will organise its 6th annual conference in the period between 30 October and 2 November to complement a year full of important political and economic events

Egypt's NDP was established in 1978 by late president Anwar Sadat who headed the party till 1981.

After Sadat's assassination, the party has been chaired by President Hosni Mubarak and is the current ruling political party in Egypt.

Presidential Elections
The party chairman, President Mubarak ran as the party nominee in the first direct presidential elections in 2005. President Mubarak won the election race securing a fifth presidential term, officially obtaining 88.6 percent of the people.

Power Struggle
It is speculated that a conflict of power lies between the young and old guard. While this tension has not been acknowledged by either side of the NDP, the Egyptian media and public at large have been pre-occupied with this apparent power struggle.

Egypt National Democratic Party Slogans

The Egypt National Democratic Party held its 7th General Congress in the period between 20 and 23 July, 1998 under the slogan “Development and the Next Millennium”.

Second, under the slogan “Our Road to Development”, the party tried to pay special attention to the concept of market economy and demand and offer mechanisms, stressing the fact that these concepts would help in distributing resources equally in a way that achieves social justice.
