Bangladesh's Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina left here this morning for Egypt to lead Bangladesh at the 15th summit of the Non-Aligned Movement to be held July 15-16 at Sharm El Sheikh, a seafront resort overlooking the Red Sea.

A special flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, carrying a 36-member official delegation led by the prime minister and a 14-member media team, took off from Zia International Airport at 11:21am.

Foreign Minister Dipu Moni and Foreign Secretary Mijarul Quayes are already in Sharm El Sheikh to do the groundwork for the meet through pre-summit meetings.

The premier will hold a series of meetings with the heads of state and government on the sidelines of the Non-Aligned Movement Summit to discuss bilateral, regional and international issues.

Around 60 heads of state and government are expected to attend the Non-Aligned Movement Summit being held this time with the theme ‘International Solidarity for Peace and Development’, suiting the present times of strife in different corners of the world.

About 110 countries will be represented at the meet that focuses on economic, development and social issues confronting the member-nations as well as the world community as a whole.
