Germany will play the Ivory Coast in a friendly on 18 November replacing a planned game against Egypt.
The match will be played in the German city of Gelsenkirchen.

Both Germany and the Ivory Coast have already qualified for the World Cup in South Africa next year.

The German Football Federation said the switch was necessary because Egypt may face a 2010 World Cup play-off match against Algeria on 18 November.

African champions Egypt play Algeria in their final 2010 World Cup qualifier on 14 November and if the Pharaohs win by a two-goal margin the two sides finish level on points, goals scored and goals conceded.

In the event of such a tie the regulations say there should be a drawing of lots to decide who qualifies for the World Cup but Fifa does also have a provision for a play-off instead.

Football's world governing body however has still not been decided whether a play-off will take place or not.

The German coach Joachim Loew said that the Ivory Coast team "brings together everything African football has to offer: technique, dynamism, creativity and passion, but also good discipline and tactical organization."
