The Egypt striker says the south coast strugglers are still interested in signing him from Zamalek, despite Sulaiman Al Fahim selling his major shareholding at Fratton Park.

It was Al Fahim who instigated a £3million move for the 26-year-old during the summer transfer window and Zaki is sure Portsmouth will be back in for him come January.

Dubai property tycoon Al Fahim remains executive chairman, despite selling a controlling stake to Saudi Ali Al Faraj, and Zaki said: 'The second call he (Al Fahim) assured me that he would submit an offer to Zamalek in January.

'I want to get back (to England) to prove that I am a good player, and that I have learned from my mistakes.

'Maybe if I went back to England, I would finish my career there.'

Zaki scored 11 goals in his first 19 games for Wigan Athletic after Steve Bruce brought him to the Premier League in a season-long loan deal last term.

But he didn't get another in 13 games after hitting the winner against Bolton on December 28 and fell out with Bruce over unexplained absences.
