An official from Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah party Sunday said Egypt has advanced the date of signing inter-Palestinian reconciliation deal.

"The information I have is that Egypt has brought forward the time for signing the reconciliation deal and did not delay it," Azzam al-Ahmad, a member of Fatah's Central Committee said.

The declaration of the Palestinian unity deal was scheduled for Oct. 25, but Hamas said earlier that the event has been delayed. Al-Ahmad did not reveal the new date for singing the deal, he said it would be earlier than Oct. 25.

Egypt has only postponed "the celebration ceremony" of the deal. "Egypt will send two copies of the deal to Hamas and Fatah to sign them separately," he added.

Hamas wants to delay the reconciliation with Fatah due to a state of anger among the Palestinians resulted from Abbas' support to delay a UN vote on a report condemning Israel's last winter offensive in Gaza.

Hamas said it can not reconcile with Fatah amid the public anger at the Fatah-led Palestinian National Authority (PNA) for its role in delaying the UN Human Rights Council's vote on Justice Richard Goldstone's Gaza report.

Tension between Hamas, which won the legislative elections in 2006, and Fatah has been high since the Islamic movement seized Gaza in mid-2007 and drove out pro-Abbas forces to the West Bank.
