An iconic bust of Egypt's Queen Nefertiti has been moved to its new home in Berlin. The fragile sculpture was transferred to Germany's newly-renovated Neues Museum "with extreme care" on Sunday (04.10.09). It will go on display later this month in a dedicated display room.
German archaeologist Ludwig Borchardt uncovered the 3,000-year-old bust on the banks of Egypt's Nile River in 1912. One year later, he took it back to Berlin where it was first displayed in 1923.
