War Child, the children's charity supported by scores of pop and rock stars, is to receive a special prize at this year's Mobo Awards

War Child will receive the BeMobo Award at the ceremony in Glasgow next week.

Urban stars including Tinchy Stryder, N-Dubz and Chipmunk will also perform the latest War Child single, a reworking of a song by The Killers.

The cover, of All These Things That I've Done, renamed I Got Soul for the charity version, is out on 19 October.

The single is a collaboration between an array of British hip-hop, R&B and pop artists. The Mobo performance will also include VV Brown, Ironik, Bashy, Frankmusik, Mpho, McLean, Kid British and Egypt.

War Child was established in 1993 to help child soldiers and young victims in war zones around the world.

Artists including U2, Sir Elton John, Coldplay, Oasis, Sir Paul McCartney and Radiohead have helped raise funds and awareness by taking part in a string of charity albums and concerts in the past.

War Child chief executive Mark Waddington said: "War Child is delighted to be receiving the BeMobo award in recognition of our work with children in the world's harshest war zones, and for our work with music in the UK.

"Highlighting the unacceptable impact of war on children has never been more important."
