South Africa based midfielder Felix Katongo will miss Zambia’s FIFA 2010 world Cup qualifier against Egypt slated for Chililabombwe’s Konkola Stadium next month

In an interview this morning, FAZ communications officer Eric Mwanza said in conformity with the FIFA regulations, after incurring a yellow card in two successive games, a player is suspended in the proceeding game.

“If you get two yellow cards in succession, then you are suspended for one game,” he said.

Katongo was booked during the Algeria encounter in Chililabombwe in June and incurred a second yellow card on Sunday during a return match which subsequently rules him out of the encounter against the African Champions Egypt on October 10.

In the absence of Felix, Chipolopolo Boys coach Herve Renard will rely on the services of Portuguese back midfielder Rainford Kalaba who missed Sunday’s clash due to the same reason.

Renard has retaliated that his team will qualify to the Angola 2010 African Cup of Nations and fans shouldn’t worry.
