Within the framework of crisis management in the Center for Information and Decision Support Center of the Council of Ministers for the dissemination of health awareness among citizens about how to deal with avian flu if it turned into an epidemic, the sector issued a publication which contains all procedures to be followed by each institution to minimize the negative effects resulting from the absence of staff.
These procedures include a plan to address the impact of the epidemic. The plan advises the institutions responsible to do the following: - Identify critical activities and functions that must continue in the event of an epidemic, such as the number of employees and the necessary supplies and equipment which are indispensable to ensure the continuation of these activities. - Select stock and strategic reserves of supplies and materials required by the institution. The provision of organizational structures and a clear chain of command, delegation of authority and order of the replacement workers. The clarification of the functions of each individual in a direct and clear manner, including the timing and how to do the job. Implement the appointment and training of extra personnel for critical positions. Identify the units, departments or services that need to reduce the number of workers or shut down, so that the redistribution of human and material resources is possible. Take into account the financial consequences of fluctuations in supply and demand for your products during the period of the epidemic.
Conduct exercises to test the plan, which is to be developed and reviewed periodically. The development of personal space, which must be adhered to during the epidemic among the employees to curb the spread of the disease, including hand-shaking, face-to-face exchanges and working from a distance. Promote personal hygiene in the workplace and giving awareness to the staff of the importance of hand washing and to keep doing that over time, and putting a handkerchief on the mouth when sneezing or coughing. Purchase of materials for the achievement of personal hygiene of workers, such as alcohol, soap, tissues and waste baskets. Make them available in more than one place for easy access. Agree on a system of communication with your employees, customers and suppliers in the event of a pandemic. Provide information on the action to be taken by the institution in the event of an epidemic.
