sources reported on Thursday that Egyptian construction magnate Hesham Talaat
Moustafa and former policeman Mohsen el-Sokary were sentenced Thursday
to death for the murder of Lebanese singer Suzanne Tamim in DubaiMoustafa, former chairman of the Talaat Moustafa Group and a prominent politician, had been accused of paying security man el-Sokary $2 million to stab Tamim to death at her house in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates on July 28.
El Sokary was also sentenced to death in the case, and the men's files were referred to Egyptian religious authorities for review, as normal in capital cases in Egypt.
For his part, claimant of civil rigths lawyer Samir Al-Shishtawi said that "untill now I am still believe in that Talaat Mustafa is innocent. The evidence we have is strong and the ruling of the court is sever," adding that "we are going to take the case to the appeals court and we are confident the ruling will be overturned"
