Thursday, 05 February 2009
Iranian President Mahmoud AhmadinejadLocal satellite Press TV reported on Wednesday that Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Iran’s President was invited to attend a ceremony in Syria to celebrate the Israeli retreat from the Gaza Strip

Press TV did not refer to the identity of the organizers and the date of the ceremony held in the Syrian capital of Damascus.
Also, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez and Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani were invited to the ceremony.

Iran never hesitated to pronounce its full support for Hamas during the three-week unprecedented Israeli offensive on Gaza, during which about 1,400 Palestinians were killed and 5,500 others wounded.

Palestinian Hamas political bureau chief Khaled Meshaal arrived in Iran on Sunday for a three-day visit to receive Iran's all-out support for Hamas. The visit was a part of his regional tour that has taken him to "Egypt, Qatar, Syria and Turkey"
