Egypt + Egyptian Education Minister Yusri al-JamalThe Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak opened today the National Conference to develop secondary education and higher education admissions policies, which ends on Monday

The conference aims to develop secondary education, both public and professional lines in an integrated form earns the students at this age skills and knowledge that would enable them to continuing education, good citizenship and use of technology, Egyptian official Al-Ahram newspaper reported.
The conference also examines the development of policies and systems of admission to institutions of higher learning so as to ensure objectivity and flexibility for students and to achieve their potential and their real needs.
During the final meetings to prepare for the conference on Saturday, a large number of experts agreed the need to return to high school one year from two parts to relieve the burden on the Egyptian family and the eradication of pupils absent from school at this stage.
Also, they voiced fears of a comprehensive evaluation system for the secondary stage, demanding that the gradual implementation of this system, according to the official newspaper Akhbar.
The experts agreed to the survival of the Coordinating Bureau as a condition for acceptance at the universities as well as holding objectively admission tests measure the students’ capabilities and tendencies at different college to be legalized tests through the computer and data banks to ensure transparency.
Meanwhile, the Egyptian Education Minister Dr. Yusri al-Jamal reported that the Conference pivots and orientations development stemmed from the state of society and industry with a flexible system allowing students’ exit and return to education with identification requirements for technical, collegiate and higher education taking into account the social dimension, teaching and assessment and examinations.
The conference depends on three axes begin their meetings Sunday and Monday to come out after that the recommendations which will immediately implement and First axis focuses on the restructuring of secondary education.
The second axis focuses on the development of rectification policies linked fully with first axis.
He pointed out that the third axis that focuses on the development of admissions policies and institutions of higher education aim to bring flexibility and multiple opportunities for students to ensure equal opportunities among the people.
Egyptian Higher Education Minister, Dr. Hani Helal said that there are general trends of development of a labor market requirements, higher education and upgrading of graduates of secondary education and preparation for the labor market with continuing education and enlightened citizenship with alleviating the burden of family and students.
