Judges will gather in their central club tomorrow to discuss the Council of Judicial Authorities bill. This bill has lately been prepared by the Ministry of Justice and sparked a wave of angerThe board of directors, chaired by Counselor Zakaria Abdel Aziz, made some proposals to judges and their clubs in the different provinces about what they deem suitable a reaction to the aggression on judiciary independence The assembly will be devoted to the board quarterly elections. Judges however, will also try to issue a decision calling on Egyptian President Mubarak to withdraw the bill or foil it completely The Judges Club extraordinary general assembly held in Aswan unanimously refused the bill in spite of its amendments and expressed their appreciation for the fact that the Ministry has responded to objections judges to the text which harms the independence of the judicial authority The assembly is expected to be hot and massive because of the quarterly elections of the Board of Directors, where 5 places out of 15 are up for grabs The club expressed its deep appreciation to the historic stance taken by the president and members of the State Council and the veteran administrative judges The decision of the Ministry to withdraw some articles of the law related to immunity and budget has not been translated into substantial actions, the club said, adding that the Board of Directors will hold continuous meetings to stand firmly against this bill.
