New Egyptian leadership for AMD EgyptAMD, a leading global provider of innovative processing solutions in the computing, graphics and consumer electronics markets appointed Mr. Ossama el-Deeb as the channel manager to oversee AMD's operations in Egypt
The move comes close on the heels of AMD's regional plans to strengthen and optimize its presence in one of the fast growing markets of Africa.
Mr. el-Deeb is responsible for managing the channel and partner initiatives for AMD in Egyptand he also will play a crucial role in raising the profile of AMD's processors and graphics business and strengthen its reach among end users.
He will work closely with the government and private sector in Egypt and will also be actively involved in the appointment of new distributors and development of strategic channel marketing programs in the region.
Mr. el-Deeb brings on board an in-depth and hands-on understanding of the business and the needs of the regional customer which he gained in his former role at Microsoft.
“Egypt is a key market for AMD and el-Deeb's expertise will help us leverage new business opportunities in the country”, the regional distribution and sales manager for AMD, Middle East, Africa and Pakistan
Mr. Abdullah Saqqa said.
el-Deeb was with Microsoft Egypt, where he worked for more than eight years. In his most recent role as the Business Development Manager for Microsoft Egypt, el-Deeb was instrumental in working with the local OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) teams to build and support the new channel initiatives.
He also played a key role in driving PC adoption among the enterprise and home-user segments, a program initiated by the Ministry of Communication and IT in Egypt.
He was also part of the team who were responsible for the launch of Windows XP in Egypt.
“I am proud to be part of the growing AMD team in MEA and looking forward to breaking new ground in this industry”, Mr. el-Deeb commented.
He will report to AMD's regional head office which is based in Dubai, UAE
