Egypt's police clashes with Palestinians trapped in a north Sinai airport on Tuesday, and three people were injured and one was in a critical condition
"About 100 Palestinians stuck in Sinai airport in Egypt because they did not have visas to enter Egypt and tried to force their way out, but were swiftly blocked by Egypt's police" a Palestinian who asked to be known only by his first name Mohammed. He added the clashes broke out and police began beating the protesters with sticks" Worth mentioning, a security source confirmed the clashes had happened and declares that three people had been injured, including one who was now in a critical condition. The Palestinians, who arrived in Egypt from different Arab countries, were heading to the Gaza Strip via Al-Arish and Egypt's police surrounded the airport and reinforcements were on the way, it came in the Egypt's Police statement. Remarkable, Rafah crossing gateway was closed since the Islamist Hamas group took control of the strip on June 15 after a week of violent clashes with Fatah. The Palestinians in the airport, who included women and children, last week went on hunger strike to protest against conditions there until they received assurances they would be allowed to leave. Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak said recently that nearly 4 000 Palestinians had fled into Egypt to escape fighting between Hamas and Fatah
