The Defense Department last week identified the following American military personnel killed in Iraq

James L. Adair, 26, of Carthage, Texas; specialist, Army. Adair was killed June 29 when a roadside bomb exploded near his vehicle in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 28th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division at Ft. Riley, Kan.
Raymond R. Buchan, 33, of Johnston, Pa.; sergeant first class, Army. Buchan was one of two soldiers killed July 1 when their unit was attacked with small-arms fire in Ta'meem, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 18th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division in Schweinfurt, Germany.
William C. Chambers, 20, of Ringgold, Ga.; lance corporal, Marine Corps. Chambers was one of two Marines who drowned July 1 when their boat capsized on the Euphrates River in Al Anbar province, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Lejeune, N.C.
